Family Involvement and Support

Middle school is a pivotal stage - students gain independence, face new academic challenges, and experience a natural dip in engagement and performance.

Research consistently shows that when families stay involved during these years through school participation and academic conversations at home, students have higher grades, improved motivation, and stronger social-emotional health. In fact, a meta-analysis of 50 studies found that discussing school goals, helping set expectations, and linking learning to future aspirations—has the strongest impact on middle school student success.

Resources for Families

We encourage you to stay actively involved and access resources to support your child's growth at Wright, including:

  • Tutoring

  • English Language classes

  • Clothing Closet

  • Social and Emotional Learning

  • Anti-bullying training and/or clubs

  • Restorative Justice

  • Food Pantry

  • Public Transportation Option for out-of-zone students

Student Cell Phone Policy

Yondr cell phone pouches are a simple, lockable pouch that stores a cell phone. Every student will be issued a pouch along with their student laptops. Students will keep their phones with them stored in the pouch during the day and will not use them until their pouches are opened at the end of the school day. We need parental support to ensure the success of this system designed to enhance academic engagement, and in turn, their success.

Restorative Practices

Wright Middle Magnet has been recognized for its adoption of restorative practices as its Tier 1 behavior intervention model. Moving to a restorative rather than a punitive discipline framework, ensures minimal loss of instructional time for the student, as well as providing multiple opportunities for self-reflection and correction.
