Immunizations
All students entering 7th grade are required to submit documentation that they are up-to-date on their immunizations. Students must have the TDAP Booster and submit the proper documentation with the first week of school in order to remain on campus. Proof of vaccination must be submitted on the TN Vaccination form (see example below). Forms can be submitted on paper, by fax at 615-333-5633 or emailing directly to wright@mnps.org.
For assistance in getting vaccinations, we recommend visiting the Metro Public Health Department:
Woodbine Public Health Center
224 Oriel Avenue

Attendance Policy
All Wright Middle students are expected to come to school on time each day. While we know that illness and emergencies happen, we need our students here each day that they are able. Please note that if you check your student out of school before 12:40 pm, it is considered a full day absence.
Below is a description of our attendance policies.
If your student misses part of a school day or a full day of school:
- Your student needs to bring a note with them when they return to school. The note can be handwritten or a note from a medical provider.
- If your student leaves before 12:40 pm, it is considered a full day absence.
If your student has missed 3 days:
- After the 3rd absence, you will receive an attendance conference phone call.
If your student has missed 5 unexcused days:
- You will receive an official “5 Day Letter” notifying you that your student is now truant. This letter serves as an alert to families that if the student misses 5 more unexcused days a truancy court petition can be signed.
If your student has missed 7 days:
- You will receive a phone call to complete an attendance plan. The plan will put interventions in place to support you and your student in being present in school moving forward.
If your student has missed 10 or more unexcused days:
- A truancy petition can be filed. You will receive notification if your case has been filed for a truancy court petition.

- Early dismissal students will unlock their pouches at the front office.
- If a student forgets their YONDR pouch at home, teachers will take phone to the front office. Phone will not be given back to students. Parents MUST come to the school during school hours to pick it up.

- If a student is found in possession of a cell phone that is not in their YONDR pouch, students’ phone will be confiscated, and a parent or guardian MUST come to school during school hours to pick it up.
In Case of Emergencies:
- Wright Middle School will follow school safety protocol. Students can unlock their phone once they reach a safe location.

Laptop Use Policy
Blended Learning in Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is the purposeful approach to instruction using digital curricular resources in both virtual and traditional classroom environments. It requires the physical or virtual presence of both teacher and student– with elements of student ownership over when, where, and how they learn. MNPS laptops have been provided to all PreK-12 MNPS students to support instruction in a 1:1 Blended Environment.
Guardian Responsibilities
Responsibility for the for the cost of repairs and/or replacements for laptops must be paid before an additional laptop is provided. The parent/guardian is responsible for the cost of repair or replacement at the date of loss if property is:
- Not returned
- Intentionally damaged
- Lost because of negligence
- Stolen, but not reported to school and/or police in a timely manner
Student Responsibilities
- Bring the device to school, fully charged each day
- Use the device for instructional purposes at school
- Use the device in the appropriate manner and use good judgment online
- Protect login information; do not share your username or password
- If the device is lost or stolen, report it to the school within one school day
- If the device is damaged, report it to the school within one school day
Off-Campus Care of Device
- Laptops should be stored in their MNPS issued laptop case
- Charge the laptop fully each night so that it is ready for classroom use
- Store the laptop on a desk or table, never on the floor
- Protect the laptop from potential damage including such causes as extreme heat or cold, food and drinks, pets, small children, and accidents
- Keep the laptop clean and free of stickers or other decorations
Lost or Stolen Device
If a device is lost or stolen, it should be reported to the Metro Nashville Police Department using the non-emergency number at (615) 862-8600. The police report number should be provided to the school immediately. School staff will remove the device from the student’s record and updated in the Laptop Checkout System.
The circumstances for each situation will be investigated. Families may be billed for the full cost ($200) for the lost device. After two lost devices, students will be issued a laptop to be kept at school and not travel home each night. The Executive Principal at each school may reassess a student’s use of the loaner device and if they are able to resume travel with a district device.
Accidental vs. Intentional Damage
Accidents do happen. There is a difference, however, between an accident and intentional damage. After investigation by school administration, if the device is deemed to be intentionally damaged by the student, the student may be subject to discipline and the cost of repair or replacement. If the fine is not paid, the following can apply:
a. Refusal to issue an additional laptop for student’s use
b. Withholding of all progress report and/or report card grades until restitution is made
c. Not allowing the student to earn course credit in one or more courses; or
d. Reducing the student’s grade in one or more courses by one (1) letter grade or ten (10) percentage points until restitution is made.
Withdrawing from MNPS
If a student withdraws from MNPS, the device should be returned to the school, Enrollment Center, or the Family Information Center. The device will be returned in the Laptop Checkout System, and an electronic receipt will be provided.
If the device is not returned, a police report will be filed for a stolen device. The school will place a hold on the student’s record, including the replacement fee, and the Cumulative Record will be held. The hold will be removed upon compensation, or the device being returned.
Device Replacement Costs
- Total Replacement of Device: $200
- LCD Screen Replacement: $40
- Keyboard Replacement: $17
- Laptop Charger: $15
