Our School

A Global Media and Mass Communications Magnet School

Wright Middle is a vibrant, inclusive learning community where students from over twenty countries and language backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and thrive. Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths, enriching our classrooms and shaping global citizens who value empathy, collaboration, and cultural understanding.

As a Global Media and Mass Communications magnet school, we connect core academics with the world of creative, real-world expression. Students dive into journalism, graphic design, television production, podcasting, and radio broadcasting. This hands-on, project-based approach sharpens communication, creativity, and problem-solving while giving students a platform to share their ideas, stories, and perspectives across cultures and borders.

Creative Expression through the Arts and Media

As part of our magnet focus, the arts are deeply woven into the Wright experience. Students can find their voice and build confidence through drama, choir, Mariachi band, visual arts, and band. These programs nurture creativity and provide students with powerful ways to express themselves and connect with one another, fostering a strong sense of identity and belonging.

Fostering Academic Excellence

We offer a range of academic opportunities to challenge and inspire our students:

  • GATE, MNPS gifted education program
  • Integrated Math and Physical Science for advanced learners
  • AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a college and career readiness program that equips students with skills in organization, goal-setting, and critical thinking

These programs work together to help students develop the knowledge, confidence, and independence they’ll need in high school and beyond.

A Typical Day at Wright

Our school day begins with breakfast, followed by Advisory/Morning Meeting - a dedicated time for students to build connections with teachers and peers, reflect on their well-being, and start the day with intention. Throughout the day, students engage in blended learning across core academic areas: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Related Arts. We believe in meeting students where they are and providing the tools they need to succeed academically and socially.
