Wright Middle School is home to the only middle school Mariachi Band in the state of Tennessee! Our program is made up of phenomenal young musicians under the leadership of Mr. Maikel Rodriguez.
Mariachi is optional year-long class that takes place during Related Arts time. Students can join the Mariachi Band in 6th grade, during which time they all learn guitar, how to read music, and how to play as an ensemble. In 7th grade, the students can choose from trumpet, violin, guitar, or guitarron and delve into learning their instrument and playing songs. By 8th grade, the students are able to play their selected instrument proficiently and get many opportunities to perform.
