Wright Middle School Family Engagement Policy 2023

We respect and value the opinions and ideas of all of our parents. Parents will be encouraged to formulate suggestions and to participate in decisions relating to the education of their children. An annual Title 1 meeting will be held to explain the requirements of the Title 1 program and parents’ rights to be involved. In addition, Title I information will also be disseminated via email, our school’s website, and social media for our school.

Parents will be encouraged to participate in planning, developing, reviewing and evaluating a written parent involvement policy and a school-wide plan called the School Improvement Plan, which will include the use of Title 1 funds. Parents will be encouraged to participate throughout the school year in all school activities, including those specifically designed to benefit parents and families, and will be kept informed of school activities. The staff will assist in providing meaningful communication to parents that supports student achievement, including understanding state educational requirements, helping students transition to high schools of choice and their influence on post-secondary careers, and informing parents about their child’s progress through report cards, individual meetings by parent request, progress reports, written notes, phone calls, e-mails, and written information on the Wright Middle website.

The school will partner with community groups and PENCIL partners to improve student achievement and foster parent involvement. The school will provide a welcoming environment for all stakeholders. A school family compact will be developed jointly with parents that will outline how parents, students and teachers will work together to ensure success for all.
